Do you constantly find yourself thinking that there aren’t enough hours in the day? If it seems impossible to fit everything into your schedule, there are a few things you can do to maximize your time management. Implement these 4 tips to combat procrastination and feel accomplished at the end of your workday!

Track your time

Start keeping track of the time you spend on every activity throughout the day. You might be surprised by the results. Timing each task will motivate you to work faster and cut out any distractions. You’ll also be able to look back at the end of the day and see how productive you were, and which tasks you finished the quickest. Try using a free tool to make tracking your time easy: Toggl lets you time each task and keeps all of your activities in one organized calendar. If you have an iPhone, you can go to your settings and see the amount of time you spend on different apps, which is an awesome tool to help eliminate procrastination.

Give up perfectionism

Don’t let the small details keep you from meeting a deadline. You can waste a lot of time when you fuss over every little thing and spend hours on tasks because you want the results to be flawless. Of course, you should feel proud of your work and make sure it’s top quality. But checking and re-checking your work, and spending hours making changes until it’s “perfect” isn’t necessary. Have confidence in your ability, and know that your work is amazing as it is!

Stop working late

It might seem like you’re getting more time out of your day when you stay up late, but in the long run, you’ll work slower and less efficiently when you’re sleep deprived. When you’re well rested, you’ll be more motivated and focused, plus you’ll make better decisions. Make time for downtime at the end of the day. Even if it’s just five minutes before bed, taking time to de-stress and unwind will help with your time management. You’ll feel less overwhelmed, reenergized, and ready to take on tomorrow’s tasks.

Make use of waiting time

Every minute of the day is an opportunity to do something that improves your health, career, and life. Plan ahead of time to use “waiting time” effectively. Do you want to make more time for self-care? Listen to a meditation or self-development podcast on your way to work. Do you have an appointment and know you might have some time to kill in the waiting room? Bring something with you that you need to read for work or school. A few minutes here and there add up. You might find that you get a lot more done when you start making use of idle time.
